Update: Public Service Leadership Diversity Initiative

The Public Service Leadership Diversity Initiative was prompted by the findings of National Urban Fellows leadership diversity research study, Changing the Face of Public Service Leadership, and government statistics indicating both the impending population shift and the numbers of leadership vacancies resulting from retiring baby-boomers in the public sector.

As the 40th Anniversary year draws to a close, thePublic Service Leadership Diversity Initiative (PSLDI) continues to gain momentum.  To date National Urban Fellows has held three national summits in Washington, DC, and eight regional summits in major U.S. markets including, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Seattle, Miami, Detroit and New York City.

Over the twelve months the PSLDI has become a national collaborative network of public service leaders and organizations that will create the awareness of the need for leadership diversity, while implementing an action plan to develop public service leaders who reflect the changing face of the country.

Our Vision for the PSLDI is to inspire excellence and diversity in public service leadership for  America’s future.

National Urban Fellows is grateful for the generous support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and to JP Morgan Chase.
