Prior to joining the National Urban Fellows program, Leleah Robinson was the Senior Financial Coordinator at Flashpoint Medica, a healthcare marketing agency. In this position, she was responsible for financial reporting, process management, and workforce development. She also worked directly with the Chief Financial Officer to enhance overall agency profitability by analyzing costs incurred in comparison to approved budgets and streamlining office processes. Leleah’s work experience heightened her awareness about healthcare access inequality and inspired her to transition into an advocacy role in this sector.
Leleah considers serving others a privilege and has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service through her volunteer efforts. For the past five years, she has been an integral part of New York Cares as a volunteer, Team Leader and member of the Fundraising Committee. In recognition of her work, she received the Star Volunteer Award for outstanding commitment to the New York Cares/Kaplan SAT Preparation program. Leleah is a Mentor Coach and Co-Vice Chair on the Mentor Leadership Council for New York Needs You (NYNY), an organization which helps first-generation college students to realize their college and career ambitions. In 2013, she received the Medical Advertising Hall of Fame “Future Famer” award, which recognizes younger professionals who are making a positive impact within the healthcare industry and demonstrating a commitment to community service.
Leleah earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from The University of Georgia, where she was a HOPE Scholarship recipient. While a student, she also served as the Executive Vice President of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
As a National Urban Fellow, Leleah is eager to enhance her leadership skills and hopes to effectively advocate for better healthcare access and solutions for underserved populations.
