As a young and innovative leader, Esteban Rodriguez has proven to his community that he is a man of competence and compassion who is committed to improving the quality of life for all people. Prior to his selection to the National Urban Fellows, Mr. Rodriguez was a mentor, tutor, friend, and teacher to hundreds of youth in his local community. His reputation has been cemented by his efforts to promote health and safety issues.
For over eight years, Mr. Rodriguez has worked in the non-profit sector at Corazón Community Services specializing in health related initiatives for youth and their families. Mr. Rodriguez has also developed close relationships with key stakeholders, such as school administration, local politicians, community organizations, hospitals, local businesses in Cicero.
As a graduate of the Illinois Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy, Mr. Rodriguez acquired the knowledge that enables young emerging leaders to attain necessary personal skills and organizational leadership competencies. The mentoring and coaching received from respected national leaders visiting the Academy has proven invaluable and provided insights on more than one occasion.
Esteban is a 2011 graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology.
He is thrilled and honored to serve as a National Urban Fellow and hopes that the journey will enhance his experience when working with policy makers and community leaders locally and nationally to address the public health issues of the day.
